TVB 2018 Top Drama Countdown

Hello! Hope your holiday season has been going well! We are back with the last post of 2018! The yearly TVB drama countdown of all dramas from worst to best we have seen this year. This has been one of the hardest years to do the countdown for because we didn't watch a lot of them and of the ones we saw, it was hard to say which one was better than the other. We actually got to see a lot more dramas this year than last year (2017 countdown here). However, most of them were forgettable. SPOILERS AHEAD! Didn't Watch: The Forgotten Valley (平安谷之詭谷傳說) - We didn't watch this one because we weren't super keen on this type of drama for the new year or something? Not sure. Maybe we were too busy but we heard that it was pretty good. Wife Interrupted (救妻同學會) - This is currently airing and we're still trying to finish up dramas that are already completed, so we just couldn't pick this one up as well. It's dubbed as a younger idol drama... but really? Most t

TVB Anniversary Awards 2018 Review

Hey everyone! We are back with a full review of the 2018 TVB Anniversary Awards! Thanks for waiting for our post to come out. We know it's a bit late because we didn't watch the awards right away when it came out. On a general note, the show was much better than last year's gong show, though we were disappointed once again with the award presenters and poor red carpet looks. We were pleased with the majority of the awards except for a few surprising ones. Without further delay, here are our thoughts for each award! Lifetime Achievement Award: Nancy Sit Kudos to Nancy Sit for her long acting career of over 60 years. She's been in several dramas in TVB and numerous Hong Kong films and is hosting her shows like Cantopop at 50 , and we know from her tear-eyed speech that it hasn't been an easy journey. It's about time this lifetime achievement award went to her, and we are glad that her contributions are recognized. Most Improved Male Artiste: Matthew

UPDATES - TVB Anniversary Awards post and more!

Hi everyone! Hope you have all been doing well, and welcome back to our blog! We've taken a break from blogging for a bit mainly because we've been way to busy with our own lives and haven't been able to catch up on many dramas. We mostly get to watch 1-2 episodes a day, and we've been behind since summer. As for our music posts, there sadly hasn't been many interesting songs coming out that we've really enjoyed and felt an urge to make a post for. That being said, here are some of our updates of what we are currently watching: Fist Fight : We're around the middle of the drama, and the fighting scenes are definitely entertaining, though it's a bit OTT and Iron, played by Philip Ng is definitely hilarious to watch though!  The Learning Curve of a Warlord : Just started the 1st episode. It looks a bit silly, so we're not sure how far into the drama we will watch yet. Lo and Behold : Jay has been following Lo and Behold  for over a y

Life on the Life 跳躍生命線 - TVB Theme Songs Review

Image
Hey everyone! We're back with a post on the new theme songs for Life on the Line. We didn't find any songs that were good in September so just skipped the Pick of the Month. As for drama updates, Cee finished The Story of Yanxi Palace and Jay is currently watching it. We are both watching Another Era right now and it's pretty good for TVB standards these days and we appreciate the different location filming in HK. But enough on that, we will get into the Life on the Line songs now. This looks like a solid drama with a strong "new" cast, we've always liked watching Matthew Ho and Moon Lau. It's been a while since we've seen Joe Ma and he's never been too special for us, in fact kinda boring and too "textbook" sometimes. The theme song is sung by Fred Cheng. It's a solid song and fits the drama well. Other than that, the MV didn't have a lot going for it, just the usual wind blowing into face stuff haha. The band scene gave us

CeeJay's Pick of the Month (August) - Katherine Ho - Yellow (Crazy Rich Asians)

Hello everyone! This pick of the month is a little different from our usual songs because it's not from Hong Kong or HK entertainment. We picked Katherine Ho's mandarin cover of the song "Yellow" from Coldplay. We both saw the movie in theatres and it was a pleasant surprise. It had everything: the comedy, the grandeur, the family struggles and the romance. Having read the book beforehand, we thought they did an amazing job capturing the author's themes. Like many articles and interviews that have already said it, this movie was pivotal in representing an Asian cast on screen in a Hollywood feature film. The casting was perfect and it showed how Asian people could portray a variety of characters - not just the nerds or Chinese restaurant owners where superheros barge into lol. We know the entire Asian community wanted this film to be well received because it opens so many doors for us. There was a lot of pressure and many people likened it to The Black Panther

The Stunt 特技人 - TVB Theme Songs Review

Image
Hello! We've just listened to the two songs for The Stunt that will be airing on TVB.  We are looking forward to watching this drama because stunt performers are an important part of TV/film production and often neglected. Watching some promo clips for this drama gave us a very different feel to the filming of it, so we'll see how it turns out. This drama has a new cast as well with Shaun Tam and Rebecca Zhu as the leading lady for the first time. Nice to see Kelvin Kwan participate in this as well since we last saw him in HKTV's Musical drama, Once Upon a Song and thought he did pretty well. Enough talk about the drama, we'll get to the songs. The theme song is sung by Fred and we expected him to sing it based on the theme of the drama. His voice is suited for a more powerful theme song compared to Hubert. The song is called 'Belief', it's about how there's a lot of obstacles and hardships that you'll encounter but if you believe and ar
