Artists- HK Artists Fashion Face-off #1
Hello Everybody!
This black dress is very simple and for some reason, it doesn't look that good on her. This look just didn't "wow" us. Simple did not work out this time and her although her hips were shown well, her chest looked like nothing. However, her necklace and other accessories help make the look nicer. It isn't a terrible look from Kate, but just not her best.
Facing off with Kate is Linda Chung. Kate and Linda have been TVB's top promoted fadans for around a decade.
This is our all time favourite look from Linda. This gown is so simple yet the gold just compliments her so well. She truly does look like a princess and we don't notice the absence of a necklace because of all the sparkle on the dress. Her hair looks great and overall, it is just a beautiful and effortless look.
Our second favourite is this turquoise dress she wore to the 2012 Starhub awards. We love the layers of the dress and the simple sparkles across the top. We kind of wish it was strapless though, or two straps. But that's just because we tend to like symmetrical designs. Her smile just makes the whole look that much more beautiful.
We saw this dress on Kev Yiu's instagram and thought that it was a beautiful design. This colour looks great on Linda and we love the ribbon on the translucent train. We think she wears it better than the original model as well.
Now for the casual looks. This first casual look was for an interview and it's looking better than Kate's casual look. Although this isn't something all of us would wear on a daily basis, it's casual for Linda. Her shirt and boots match well and we like the details of her shirt. There really isn't much to say for this, it's just a good look.
We do not like this casual look, especially the scarf? We don't know what it is. The blouse makes her look old and the skirt is alright. She kinda looks like an office lady minus the scarf and the boots. The boots are a bad match. If she was going for an OL look, she should've worn simple black heels. Maybe she wanted to be edgy? But it does not work for the top part... everything just looks mismatched.
Another bad casual look from Linda. She looks like she got this from some cheap online Halloween costume retailer. The skirt should have had more layers, or just forget the overlay and go for plain magenta. The trashy necklace looks like its from the dollar store. TVB artists have bad taste in casual looks.
This is our least favourite look. She looks like... Godzilla?!? Her shoulders are too much and although we like the silver top, the pants just ruin it. If the shoulders weren't there and the bottom was a long, flowy skirt this look would work. I think we know what looks good on Linda and she should not go for these extreme looks.
The verdict:
Linda has better elegant looks than Kate. They both lack style in the casual department and do not look good when they stray off from their normal looks (Kate's dalmatian and Linda's Godzilla). So the winner for this round is Linda!
First of all, so sorry for not posting in a while! We've just been super busy but today I will be introducing something new! This is our first Fashion Face-off post. This will be a continuous post as there will be more rounds. What we did was pick out a few of our favourite elegant and casual looks from some Hong Kong artists. Some of their worst outfits will be shown too, just to be fair. We will describe them and give some details and of course, our opinion on the look. We will choose our pick and please let us know what you think in the comments!
Up first is Kate Tsui! We picked her first because of her drama "Smooth Talker" airing right now.
Kate wore this for the 2012 TVB Anniversary awards and this is one of our favourite looks from her. She looks radiant in this white dress. The peplum design accentuated her figure nicely and although it is hard to see in this picture, this dress has flowers embossed throughout the gown. The updo was suitable for this look so her hair wouldn't be in the way. The jewelry isn't too much and compliment's the dress. This is a winning look from Kate.
This look was from the 2014 Starhub Awards and another one of our favourites. The design of the dress is simple but the black lines really creates contrast. One thing we don't like is how the dress itself (without the black) looks like a nightgown. That aside, her beachy waves complete the look flawlessly. She isn't the queen of the night but still looks great.
Kate wore this beautiful gown for the 55th Asia Pacific Film Festival. She looks mature in this dark red dress. The design is very simple but the colour highlights her pale complexion. This look would be better if she had a small necklace as looks a bit empty since her hair is back and all.

It sure took us a while to find some casual looks from Kate, and this is the worst one yet. It was taken at a promotional event at a mall and it is ridiculous. The skirt makes no sense at all and we thought it was some replication of the Catbus from Totoro... We think the look speaks for itself, no more needs to be said.

Another funny look from Kate. This time, the hat ruined it for us... Looks like a weird granny hat, we don't even know how to describe it. The pattern of the romper just looks weird, is it a pineapple?? We think Kate is just not good at looking casual.
This is another bad one of Kate. She looks like a dalmatian here. The outfit reminds us of pyjamas as well. Although the heels were nice, it did not match the outfit. Once again, Kate's casual looks are just not good.

This was worn by Kate in the 2014 TVB Anniversary. To be honest, we were not a huge fan of this one. The lacey designs of her blush pink dress were nice. However, this dress made Kate look kind of chubbier than usual. Her hair should've been styled in an updo because it's just everywhere and impedes from the elegance.

I would choose Kate over Linda.
