CeeJay's Pick of the Month (July) - Dear Jane 寧願當初不相見, Kayee Tam 甜言騙局

Hi everyone! Following from last month's Pick of the month, we have two songs we'd like to introduce this month. The first song is from Dear Jane which is a band we particularly like in Cantopop these days. Recently, we feel that they've ditched the old harder rock feeling for more modern instruments and beats. Their ability to express their feelings across is still evident. Our favourite songs from them are still the 3 part story of 哪裡只得我共你, 只知感覺失了蹤, and 經過一些秋與冬. This is because they were able to tell a full love story from meeting to breaking up to getting over each other through songs. This left listeners anticipating for the next song to finish the story. This song isn't as 'full' in its story telling and is a little repetitive. Their new style reminds us of modern pop and while it shows that canto can be used for upbeat songs, hopefully the storytelling is still great as they continue! Deep in the Realm of Conscience 宮心計2:深宮計 TVB Review

Hello everyone! Today we’re going to be writing a review on Deep in the Realm of Conscience, one of TVB’s most anticipated dramas of the year which was produced in cooperation with Tencent Penguin Pictures. With its big budget for new costumes and set designs, producer Mui Siu-ching’s return, along with new ‘big name’ actresses Annie Liu and Chrissie Chau, this was supposed to wow audiences. We’re gonna give some general thoughts and then move into the performances of the cast. Warning that there are spoilers ahead! General thoughts: As expected, the sequel was not as good as the first series, Beyond the Realm of Conscience, but it was not a terrible series that made us want to shut off the tv right away. If anything, it was not at all associated with BTROC and would have been better if it was made a separate entity so there would be no need to meet the expectations created by the success of BTROC. The main problem of the show was it tried to emulate bits and pieces of BTRO
